A Silver Spring woman recently won $50,000 while on a work break, according to the Maryland Lottery. The Silver Spring resident has been experiencing a lucky streak lately in the lottery, winning a few small prizes from time to time. During a visit to the Shoppers grocery store on Cherry Hill Rd. in College Park, the 51-year-old purchased a $10 FAST PLAY ticket. The woman selected the High Roller Blackjack game with a progressive jackpot and won a second-tier prize of $50,000, according to a press release.

Police: Suspect Arrested in Sexual Assault With Knife
Takoma Park Police say that 36-year-old Christopher Bernard Wise has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault on March 15 that involved a knife. Officers responded at approximately 3 p.m. on March 15 to the 7700 block of Maple Ave. for a report of a cutting, according to Takoma Park Police spokesperson Cathy Plevy. The officers found a female victim with lacerations on her leg. Additionally, the victim reported to the on-scene officers that she had been sexually assaulted. The victim used an online dating app to meet the suspect, Plevy said.
Adventist HealthCare’s Alternate Care Site Discharges Final COVID-19 Patient
Gaithersburg-based Adventist Healthcare announced Monday on Twitter that the last patient with COVID-19 had been discharged from its Alternate Care Site in Takoma Park. Takoma Park officials said last month that the former Washington Adventist Hospital site, which served as a COVID-19 alternate care facility, would be decommissioned by April 28. Inpatient admissions ended on February 20.
Sticky Fingers to Replace Soupergirl in Takoma
Soupergirl is closing its retail location in Takoma today after eleven years in the neighborhood, according to an announcement from Laura Barclay of Main Street Takoma. Owner Sara Polon plans to relocate the business to a larger kitchen facility in the area to focus on grocery store sales and deliveries, Barclay said.

La Casita Pupuseria & Market will leave the Uber Eats delivery platform on Friday, March 31, according to a post on the restaurant’s Instagram account. Suspects Sought in Armed Carjacking, Assault
Police in Takoma Park are asking for the public’s help identifying suspects in an armed carjacking and assault that occurred early Thursday morning. Officers responded at around 5:30 a.m. on March 23 to an armed carjacking that occurred at the Marathon Gas station in the 6400 block of New Hampshire Ave., according to police spokesperson Cathy Plevy. The victim was getting ready to enter his vehicle when he was approached by two male suspects wearing black ski masks and dark clothing; one from behind him and the other from in front of him. In addition to striking the victim in the face with a gun, the suspects demanded at gunpoint the keys to the victim’s automobile.

Takoma Park police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating 14-year-old Morlu Kollie, who has been missing since March 24. The last time Kollie was seen was at approximately 1 p.m. on March 24 in the 600 block of Houston Ave., according to police spokesperson Cathy Plevy. Plevy describes Kollie as a Black male who is 5’8″, 130 pounds, has short blonde hair, and is thin. He was last seen wearing a red hooded jacket, ripped blue jeans, gray with white Jordan sneakers, and a tan winter hat.
