Relaxed and wide-leg jeans continue to have a stronghold on the men’s runway. The staple bottoms have been widely adopted by designer brands and adapted for a variety of aesthetics.

Designers showed a more playful and decorated approach to denim for Spring/Summer 2025 , however.
These three trends help push jeans out of the basics category, offering consumers the opportunity to make a statement in denim next year.
Shorts
Jean shorts are not new to spring/summer collections, but designers are taking “jorts” into new directions.
Magliano leaned into the trend for short inseams with slim cutoff shorts, while Martine Rose went long with knee-length denim shorts.
Awge: A creative agency founded by A$AP Rocky deconstructed shorts with camouflage. Release hems and prints added interest to Kidsuper’s shorts. Solid Homme presented wide pleated shorts and styled pairs over cropped leggings.
Dark wash denim with an orange peel effect added weight to Dhruv Kapoor’s long shorts. The roomy shorts were cinched with double prong belts made with matching denim. JW Anderson also experimented with belts by placing them loosely around the legs of long jean shorts.
Prints
Designers are injecting color through prints and embroideries—often with nostalgic themes.

3.Paradis presented black denim coordinates with a Y2K flip phone print. Doves decorated other denim styles from the French-Canadian contemporary ready-to-wear brand.
Red bunnies covered Dhruv Kapoor’s denim jacket and jeans. Maison Mihara Yasihiro applied sticker-like decals to black denim shorts. Doublet printed anime characters on over-dyed jeans.
Other designers took a more artisanal approach to prints and embroideries. For his debut at Valentino , designer Alessandro Michele finished the hems of jeans with bands of ’70s patterns. Isabel Marant reclaimed its boho roots with Southwestern-inspired embroideries on jean
Waistbands
The more, the merrier rings true with waistbands. The trend for stacked waistbands began to bubble up in Fall/Winter 23-24 collections after True Religion fans took to TikTok wearing multiple pairs of jeans to create the layered effect. Labels like Casablanca and System helped carry the trend into the runway.
For S/S ’25, 3.Paradis took the concept to a new extreme with a jean that has a stack of six waistbands and belts. Awge: A creative agency founded by A$AP Rocky also showed jeans with multiple waistbands and plaid boxer shorts. One pair showed a trio of waistbands with different washes, creating a gradient effect.
Feng Chen Wang opted for a double waistband for a collection of gray jeans with a bold wash. The waistband detail emphasized the wash’s dramatic highs and lows.
Other designers have waistband the chop. Prototypes showed low-rise jeans with the waistband cut off. The jeans were held together with just a string.
