    South Beloit boys basketball wins NAC tournament

    SCHAUMBURG, Ill.—The South Beloit boys basketball team continued to exert their dominance over the Northeastern Athletic Conference by adding the NAC Tournament title to the regular season crown it won by finishing undefeated in conference play this season.

    The SoBos downed Christian Liberty (11-10) 58-37 on Saturday afternoon to advance to the championship game. Junior Ross Robertson paced South Beloit with 21 points while TreyMon Payton-Ruff scored 14 points and Des Hampton added nine.

    A familiar foe awaited the SoBos in the finals as they faced off against Harvest Christian Academy (18-10) in the final round for the third-straight season.

    South Beloit (21-6) came away with the 55-43 win over the Lions to clinch the title. No additional stats were reported.

    The SoBos will next play North Boone (8-19) in non-conference action on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

    • HONONEGAH 88, BELVIDERE 68: The Indians won their third-straight game after an outpouring of offense against the Bucs (5-25, 2-15) on Friday night.

    Landon Claudy led the way with 24 points as he hit six 3-pointers while Darian Tholin added four treys on his way to 22 points. Cole Warren scored 18 points and Isaiah Houi contributed 13.

    • ROCKFORD AUBURN 77, HONONEGAH 48: On Saturday night, it was the Knights who had an explosion of offense as they downed the Indians.

    Second-place Auburn (19-10, 14-3) held a 33-21 advantage by halftime and upped it to 58-38 over the Indians (11-15, 8-9) after the third quarter.

    • GIRLS: LENA-WINSLOW 53, SOUTH BELOIT 28: No stats were reported as the SoBos (14-16) had their season ended by the hot-shooting Panthers (21-9) in the opening round of the IHSA 1A Dakota regional.

    • ROCKFORD CHRISTIAN 58, NORTH BOONE 25: No stats were reported as the Vikings’ (5-23) season ended at the hands of the hosting Royal Lions in the IHSA 2A Rockford Christian regional.
