    SoBos softball team posts back-to-back blowouts

    SOUTH BELOIT — South Beloit’s softball team swept visiting Christian Liberty in dominating fashion Saturday, 16-1 and 18-0, with both games over after the visitors batted in the top of the fourth inning.

    Whitney Schnack started in the pitching circle in both games and didn’t allow a hit in either. She walked two and struck out 11 in the first game and walked one and fanned seven in the nightcap.

    The SoBos had a huge first inning in each win. They tallied 10 in the opener and 11 in the nightcap.

    South Beloit took advantage of 14 walks and six hits in the first game. Annabelle Dascher was the lone SoBo with multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Zorah Martin was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI and Schnack was 1-for-2 with two runs scored, a triple and an RBI.

    Martin was 3-for-3 in the nightcap with a triple, three runs scored and three RBIs. Jasmine Fago, Taylor Castor, Dascher and Taniyah Crawford all had two hits.

    • STILLMAN VALLEY 6, N. BOONE 2: Stillman Valley never trailed after Kaelyn Williams belted a two-run homer in the first inning.

    Down 4-1, the Vikings closed within 4-2 on a solo homer by Lauren Stefek. Stillman Valley tacked on two runs in the sixth inning for the final margin.

    Cami Carter took the loss, allowing seven hits and six runs (four earned) in six innings. She struck out nine. Williams picked up the win, allowing five hits and two runs in a complete game. She walked one and struck out 14.

    • N. BOONE 10, BELVIDERE NORTH 4: The Vikings (12-3) bounced back nicely against the Blue Thunder. The Vikings went up 4-0 after two innings on a pair of two-run homers by Danielle Goodman and Avarie Torres. Carter, Goodman, Maddee Alderman and Torres all had two hits.

    Carter earned the win, allowing seven hits and four runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out eight.

    • EVANSVILLE 10 BIG FOOT 9 (8 inn.): The Chiefs got a clutch two-out, solo homer by freshman Brylee Parrott in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings.

    Lily Wolf led Big Foot, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Kate Hummel was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Mylee Walter was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Claire Patek was 2-for-4.

    Holly Kynell took the loss, allowing 10 runs (six earned).

    • BELOIT MEMORIAL 11, BIG FOOT 9 (8 inn.): This one also went extras before the Purple Knights pulled it out as Allie Gustafson belted a two-run homer to center to break a 9-9 tie in the top of the eighth.

    Gustafson was 3-for-5 with a run scored and four RBIs to lead Beloit’s 11-hit attack. Abby Middleton was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Jasmine Smith was 1-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs.

    Big Foot had 12 hits. Kynell was 3-for-4 with an RBI double and a triple. Hummel was 2-for-4 with three runs scored, a double and two RBI. Wolf was 2-for-5 with two runs scored.

    Rilynne Cleland started for Beloit in the pitcher’s circle and allowed nine hits and seven runs (six earned) over four innings, striking out two. Delayne Hyser came on in relief and pitched four innings, allowing three hits and two earned runs with five strikeouts.

    Kynell allowed seven runs (five earned) over seven innings and Ella Kinane allowed three earned runs in her one innings of work.
