    South Bend – Elkhart group seeks proposals for READI 2.0 funds

    The Northern Indiana Regional Development Authority and the South Bend – Elkhart Regional Partnership are requesting proposals for the READI 2.0 award.

    Gov. Eric Holcomb included $500 million in READI 2.0 funds as part of his 2023 Next Level Agenda. The Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative is a state initiative that promotes regional growth. The program invests in projects that foster innovation, create jobs and enhance quality of life.

    Applicants have until Aug. 30 to submit proposals. They are required to attend one of three workshops:

    • July 30:  St. Joseph County Public Library Community Learning Center

    • Aug. 6: The REES Theatre

    • Aug. 8: Elkhart Health & Aquatics

    The South Bend – Elkhart region received $50 million in READI 1.0 funds in 2021. In 2022, the RDA awarded $40 million to 17 of Quality of Place projects and $6.4 million in funding to 11 programs.

    The South Bend – Elkhart Regional Partnership is a collaboration of economic development partners in Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan. The partnership serves Elkhart, Marshall and St. Joseph counties in Indiana, and Berrien and Cass counties in Michigan.

    Formed in 2015, the Northern Indiana Regional Development Authority serves Elkhart, Marshall and St. Joseph counties. The RDA works to improve the South Bend – Elkhart region. It receives staffing support from the South Bend – Elkhart Regional Partnership.
