Gold standard: Notre Dame football adds shiny sleeve patches to 2024 home jerseys

SOUTH BEND — Notre Dame football won’t be wearing its heart on its sleeve this season, but it still came up with an eye-catching addition.

In revealing the 2024 home football jerseys on ESPN’s “First Take” on Friday morning, the Irish rolled out arm sleeve patches of the interlocking “ND” logo in gold. The metallic hue matches the iconic gold helmet and the logo trim is blue.

Jersey numbers on the home blue uniforms will be white with metallic gold trim.

Early feedback on social media seemed to be overwhelmingly positive, although some commenters wondered why the Irish can’t make their home uniform pants in a matching gold as well. The mustard-toned gold pants have plenty of detractors for whatever reason in the fan-o-sphere.

Notre Dame has yet to announce its 2024 green jersey game after taking the field in that color scheme the past two seasons against California (2022) and Ohio State (2023).

A special jersey kit typically accompanies Shamrock Series contests as well. This year’s game is set for New York’s Yankee Stadium against Army on Nov. 23.
