SOUTH BEND — South Bend's Department of Public Works has announced two traffic projects that begin Monday, July 29, weather permitting:

    Cleveland Road

Cleveland Road from Portage Avenue to Shellbark Avenue will be restricted from four lanes to two lanes. NIPSCO will perform work on a gas main related to its new substation. Eastbound lanes will be converted to maintain two-way traffic. Restrictions will be in place throughout the duration of the project, which has an estimated completion date of Friday, Aug. 16, weather permitting.

    Washington Street

Also starting Monday, July 29, Washington Street from Main Street to Lafayette Boulevard will be closed for crane work related to construction at Liberty Tower. The detour route will be Colfax Avenue via Lafayette Boulevard and Main Street. Washington Street is expected to reopen end of day Friday, Aug. 2, weather permitting.
