The severe weather that rolled through the South Bend area Monday led to several high school softball sectionals having its scheduled altered.

At Newton Park, the Class 3A, Sectional 19 tournament played three innings before being stopped, with Jimtown leading Clay, 8-0. The teams will resume the game at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, with New Prairie vs. South Bend Riley being played immediately following the conclusion of the first game. Tuesday’s scheduled semifinals have been pushed to Wednesday, with the title game still set for Thursday.

Class 4A, Sectional 4 played one game, with Penn comfortably beating Concord, 14-1 (5 innings). The second game between Elkhart and Warsaw was postponed to 6 p.m. Tuesday. The semifinals are Wednesday, with Penn facing host Northridge at 5 p.m. and Goshen awaiting the Elkhart/Warsaw winner at 7 p.m.

Class 3A, Sectional 21 at Fairfield saw East Noble beat Lakeland, 4-0, in the first game, while the second contest between the host Falcons and West Noble was delayed in the middle of the second inning. Fairfield led, 1-0, when play was stopped. The game will resume 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Class 2A, Sectional 34 opener between Bremen and LaVille didn’t get past the first inning before being called. The game will now be played at 6 p.m. Tuesday at South Central (Union Mills) High School.

Class 1A, Sectional 50 never started, with the game between Marquette Catholic and host Westville moved to 5:30 p.m. ET Tuesday. The game will be played at Kesling Park in LaPorte so that way the scheduled Tuesday game between Argos and Oregon-Davis can be played as well. Westville’s softball field does not have lights.
