9 South Bend-area disc golf courses to try, including new holes in Elkhart

Disc golf is growing in the area, especially in Elkhart County.

The city of Elkhart has opened up nine holes of disc golf that you can play in downtown’s Lundquist-Bicentennial Park, 147 N. Elkhart Ave. And another nine holes will be opening soon at neighboring Island Park, linked by a pedestrian bridge over the St. Joseph River, where tee pads and baskets are currently being installed.

The city’s parks department announced the progress Wednesday, Aug. 14 on its Facebook page . The new course has been designed by local disc golf players and course designers from the region.

And, as we just r eported in Outdoor Adventures , Ox Bow County Park in Goshen is celebrating its newly revamped 24 holes of disc golf with a party and three days of tournaments for all skill levels Aug. 16-18. Ox Bow is at 23033 County Road 45: https://elkhartcountyparks.org/destinations/ox-bow .
