Rite Aid will close all its local Michigan stores

Rite Aid will close all Michigan stores by the end of September, including locations in Niles, Buchanan, Cassopolis, Dowagiac and Berrien Springs.

Since filing for bankruptcy in October, the company has been shuttering stores across the country as a result of declining sales, mounting debt, and lawsuits against it and other pharmacies accused of illegally filling prescriptions that have contributed to the opioid epidemic, according to the Detroit Free Press .

Prescriptions will be transferred to Walgreens. Rite Aid does not have locations in Indiana.
