University Park Mall kicks off Notre Dame football home opener with festivities on Friday

MISHAWAKA ― University Park Mall aims to bring some of the Fighting Irish spirit to the shopping complex just northeast of campus by offering activities and events on Fridays before each home game from 4 to 7 p.m.

This Friday, Sept. 6, the mall will have a DJ, free face painting, balloon twisting, a prize wheel, stilt walkers and jugglers as well as store specials and discounts. A similar lineup of family-friendly activities will be offered Sept. 20, Sept. 27, Oct. 11, Nov. 9 and Nov. 15 prior to Notre Dame home games .

“It’s a way to build some excitement for Friday night high school football as well as Notre Dame home games,” said Christian Carlson, area director of marketing and business development for mall owner Simon Properties. “We’re going to have a similar lineup of entertainment for every home game.”
