See where Notre Dame football ranks in latest US LBM Coaches Poll

SOUTH BEND — Notre Dame football heads into the first of its two bye weeks this season with another bump in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

The Irish, 4-1 after Saturday’s 31-24 win over previously unbeaten Louisville , moved up a spot to No. 13 in Sunday’s rankings.

Despite a stunning home loss to Northern Illinois, which now has two losses, Notre Dame remains on track for a potential spot in the first 12-team College Football Playoff.

Wins over Texas A&M (4-1), now ranked 21st in the coaches poll, and Louisville (3-1), which dropped from No. 17 to No. 22, have effectively offset the loss to the Huskies.

Traditional rival USC, which Notre Dame will face on Thanksgiving weekend in Los Angeles, moved up one spot to No. 15 in the updated coaches poll.

One-loss teams Georgia, Michigan, Mississippi and LSU are ranked ahead of Notre Dame.

In the Associated Press poll of media members, Notre Dame moved up two spots to No. 14 and has climbed as high as No. 5 after the opener. USC moved up two spots to No. 11, Louisville is No. 22 and Texas A&M isn't even listed among the 14 others receiving votes.

That group includes Navy and Army, which Notre Dame will face in the New York Metropolitan Area later this season.

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee won't release its first ranking until Tuesday Nov. 5, aka Election Night.
