    Jacob Hix is Northern Indiana Conference boys tennis MVP

    South Bend Saint Joseph sophomore No. 1 singles player Jacob Hix has been named the boys tennis Most Valuable Player in the Northern Indiana Conference.

    Saint Joseph's Matthew Halfpenny was named the NIC Coach of the Year.

    Hix is joined on the first team by little brother, freshman Oliver Hix at No. 2 singles.

    Penn got first-team selections at No. 1 singles in senior Chris Chen, No. 3 singles, junior Quinn Lippert while the Kingsmen No. 1 doubles team of senior Noah Sytsma and freshman Josh Weaver are also first-team.

    Elkhart's No. 2 doubles team of junior Hayden Holdeman and senior Matt Grolich complete the NIC first-team.

    Second team

    SINGLES: Sr. Evan Knapp (Penn); soph. Logan Kelly (Elkhart); sr. Grady Kelly (Elkhart); sr. Ben Miller (Elkhart).

    DOUBLES: Sr. Jake Westbury-sr. Nick Nguyen (Saint Joseph); sr. Noah Dibley-soph. Cameron Miller (Elkhart)

    Honorable mention

    SINGLES: Soph. Ben Brady (Saint Joseph); sr. Joaquin Wilson (Marian); jr. Brayden White (SB Adams).

    DOUBLES: Sr. Cormac Kennedy-soph. Jack Mattison (Saint Joseph)

    NIC standings : SB Saint Joseph 7-0, Penn 6-1, Elkhart 5-2, SB Adams 4-3, Marian 3-4, New Prairie 2-5, SB Riley 1-7, SB Washington 0-8.
