Union Fire Department Receives Grant from American Rescue Plan Firefighters Program
UNION, NJ – The Union Fire Department has been approved to receive a $75,000 award from the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Firefighters program. The state award, announced by Senator Joe Cryan on behalf of Governor Philip D. Car Fire in Underground Garage at Union Stop & Shop Sunday Night
UNION, NJ – An automatic fire alerted Union firefighters to the Stop & Shop at 1201 Stuyvesant Avenue on Sunday night. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fully involved vehicle on fire in the underground parking garage, causing heavy smoke. Union Fire Chief Greg Ricciardi said the store above was searched and evacuated. Firefighters stretched a hose to extinguish the fire and the sprinkler system activated, which helped smother the fire, he said. He said the business is expected to be closed until repairs are made to the sprinkler system. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. Bayonne Firefighters Rescue Workers from Vacant Home
BAYONNE, NJ - Three workers were rescued from inside a vacant home last week, Bayonne Fire Chief Keith Weaver reported. Firefighters faced heavy smoke coming from the attic area of a one and half story home at 5 Pavonia Court when they arrived there at 4:57 p.m. on Thursday after reports of a structure fire.
