N.J. man gets 40 years in prison in violent crime spree targeting Orthodox Jews
A man has been sentenced to 40 years in federal prison for a crime spree in 2022 that injured and threatened several members of the Orthodox Jewish community in Ocean County. Dion Marsh, 29, of Manchester, received the sentence on Tuesday in Trenton federal court, the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of New Jersey said in a news release. He pleaded guilty earlier this year to five counts of violating the federal Hate Crimes Prevention Act and one count of carjacking.

A 29-year-old Ocean County man who targeted Orthodox Jewish men in a violent one-day rampage over two years ago has been sentenced to 40 years in prison. In February, Dion Marsh of Manchester pleaded guilty to five counts of federal hate crimes and one count of carjacking, for his hours-long spree in parts of Lakewood and Jackson, U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said.

Brad Moening, the longtime cross-country coach for Highland Park High School, will be inducted into the Minnesota Cross Country Coaches Hall of Fame during a coaches clinic on August 5 at the Grand Event Center in Northfield. Moening has coached boys’ and girls’ cross-country at Highland for 22 years. During that time, the Scots have won nine Saint Paul City Conference titles and made four team appearances at state, taking third in both 2019 and 2021. The Highland girls have won 15 conference titles, including the last 12 in a row, and have made four trips to state, including finishing first in 2021 and 2022, and second in 2023. Moening also has won numerous awards as coach of Highland’s Nordic ski teams. He plans to continue coaching cross-country this fall, but is turning over the reins of the school’s Nordic ski program to former Highland student Will Robertson.

ROSELLE PARK, NJ — The borough grew a little brighter recently, as Union County Connects, a 501(c)(3) charity that advocates for safer trail networks in Union County, unveiled a brand-new mural featuring a historical rendition of the Rahway Valley Railroad Engines. Painted on the Son-Rise Document Solutions building at the outskirts of the borough, the mural welcomes travelers into Roselle Park. The mural was created by a Jersey City-based street artist, known as "Distort", who has composed many murals throughout New Jersey.
