Shooting victim found at Long Branch, NJ train station
LONG BRANCH — A male was shot dead at a train station on Monday night. Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said police found the victim on the platform of the Long Branch NJ Transit station around 7:40 p.m. The male was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Bridge Dedicated in Honor of PFC George Huntzinger
The Brownsville Road bridge in Middletown Township was recently dedicated to honor the service and memory of a local man killed in action during the Vietnam War. Remembering Private First Class (PFC) George Raymond Huntzinger, the community and elected officials gathered on Friday, August 23rd, to honor his service to the country. PFC Huntzinger was a resident of Lower Southampton Township, enlisted in the U.S. Army and was sadly killed in action in Vietnam on Oct. 26, 1969.
Boy Burned By Coals on Sandy Hook
On August 13th, around 2:45 p.m. Dispatch Center at Gateway National Recreation Area received a call about a young burn victim near Guardian Park. Responding officers found a boy with burns to both feet. According to witnesses, the boy had stepped on hot coals that had been illegally dumped between rocks in the area. The area is a designated barbecue location within the federal park and visitors are required to dispose of barbecue coals in designated locations only. The boy was airlifted to a local burn center. The four-year-old’s burns were so severe that he was flown to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center’s burn center in Livingston and is still unable to walk.

RUMSON — Spilled red wine led to a confrontation inside a celebrity chef restaurant in Monmouth County on Thursday night. Rumson police Lt. Christopher Isherwood said police responded to the Red Horse restaurant on Ridge Road at the Avenue of the Two Rivers after customer David Gulley, 75, of Palm Beach Shores, Florida, pulled a knife on another customer.

Victim in West New York hit-and-run dies; motorcyclist faces new charge
A Union County motorcyclist who authorities say was involved in a hit-and-run crash in West New York is facing upgraded charges after the victim died Saturday. Samuel Collazo, 20, of Westfield, is now charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death in the Aug. 17 incident at Bergenline Avenue and 57th Street, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
