The Nation's Weather for Sunday, July 21, 2024

    NATIONAL SUMMARY

Showers and thunderstorms will spread across much of the

Southeast today. Some thunderstorms can produce locally

damaging wind gusts, mainly across North Carolina, South

Carolina and Georgia. Farther north, the Northeast will stay

mainly dry, with the exception of a spotty shower in

northern New York, Vermont and New Hampshire. Spotty

thunderstorms will rumble across the Plains, while afternoon

thunderstorms can occur in the Intermountain West.

Thunderstorms will be capable of producing flooding

downpours and localized damaging wind gusts across New

Mexico and Arizona. Elsewhere across the West, extreme heat

will continue to build as a zone of high pressure remains

over the region. Temperatures will be well above the
