Liverpool head coach Arne Slot was pleased with his side's 3-0 win over Manchester United in South Carolina — but gave a glimpse of his perfectionist mindset by declaring that he wants even more from his players before the new Premier League season begins.

Goals from Fabio Carvalho and Curtis Jones put Liverpool in control of the scoreline in the first half before Kostas Tsimikas sealed the result in the second. Caoimhin Kelleher and Vitezslav Jaros were both kept busy between the sticks, though, and Slot wanted more control of proceedings. He wasn't pleased with the number of chances his team gave up.

"We're really happy with the result," Slot said live on LFCTV post-match. "We scored some really nice goals but I don't think we had enough control over the game because United were threatening more than a few times. It is a 3-0 win but the score could have been different tonight as well.

"The results are what everybody is looking at but the players stayed fit and they are able to perform in the way that we want. We saw some great goals during this tour and they are working really hard not to concede.

"But today we gave away a few chances and United deserved more than a 3-0 loss. It is also our quality that we do score our chances. A lot of new players will come in; seven, eight or nine maybe. Not 'new', but they come back from their holiday.

"It will be interesting to see how these players fit into the team and we will implement them as soon as we can. We need to work hard in the upcoming two weeks to be ready for Ipswich because there were positives to take away from today but like I just said, we gave away too many chances."

Liverpool.com says: Slot showed some insight into his character here, wanting more and more from his side. He will certainly not be getting carried away with a pre-season victory. It's a trait that all the best coaches out there possess.
