SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – In 2022, the West Virginia Department of Transportation announced a partnership with the Federal Highway Administration to improve a 1.7-mile-long section of Jefferson Road , which would connect the MacCorkle Ave. with Corridor G.

Last year, the construction made quite a stir with homeowners in the area, but the expansion is potentially being seen as positive to people who may be driving from further away.

“It’s sort of been a bottleneck so to speak, and it’s making the entrance and exit here. We can get in from Jefferson Road, South Charleston to this area a lot quicker now. So, we’re glad that it’s here,” says Becky McClure.

McClure lives in Lincoln County and relies on Jefferson Road to visit doctors and make other important appointments.

Construction is set to be completed by the end of the year. The construction will be bringing in a five-lane road and new roundabout.
