Banking: Industry veteran to launch South Florida bank
A banking veteran who held previous C-suite positions for South Florida banks plans to kickstart her own bank in the region.<\p> Mary Usategui told the Business Journal that she filed applications with the U.S. Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and the Florida Office of Financial Regulation to launch BankMiami, a state-chartered full-service commercial bank that will be headquartered in Miami. Usategui will lead the bank as the president and CEO.<\p>
FDIC approves local community bank acquisition by credit union
Regulators recently gave a Michigan credit union the green light to acquire a longtime Palm Beach County community bank. <\p> The U.S. Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. approved the merger application of Flagler Bank that identified Grand Blanc, Michigan-based Dort Financial Credit Union as the buyer. The offer was filed Feb. 14, and the application stated that Dort would acquire the assets and liabilities of the West Palm Beach-based community bank. Additionally, the former community bank will now operate as Flagler Credit Union, a Division of Dort Financial.<\p>
Fintech receives $300M loan from Citi, Fasanara Capital
SellersFi closed a $300 million credit facility with Citi and independent asset manager Fasanara Capital to fuel its growth. <\p> Based in Weston, the financial technology startup provides working capital to e-commerce businesses. <\p>
Public company execs cash out with golden parachutes after acquisition
Bluegreen Vacations Holding Corp., which is preparing to merge with Hilton Grand Vacations, has proposed multimillion-dollar payouts for three executives, according to a proxy statement filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. <\p> The statement, which is required when public companies request shareholder votes, attached a letter Bluegreen Vacations (NYSE: BVH) sent to shareholders on Nov. 28 detailing the all-cash transaction, which is valued at approximately $1.5 billion including net debt.<\p>
