The Miami Hurricanes landed a big addition to their 2025 recruiting class on Thursday morning.

Four-star center Ben Ahmed committed to Miami, announcing his decision on 247Sports’ YouTube channel. He chose UM over Cincinnati and Xavier following his official visit to Miami earlier this month.

“Just the relationship I had with the coaches on that visit,” Ahmed said on the broadcast. “I had a great relationship with the head coach, coach (Jim Larrañaga), coach Bill (Courtney), the whole coaching staff, even the players. It just felt like I’ve been there for a year or two.”

Ahmed, who grew up in Nigeria and plays for Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut, is listed as the No. 9 center and No. 78 payer in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Ahmed is listed at 6-9 and 300 pounds with a 7-foot-3 wingspan, according to 247Sports.

Ahmed is the second member of Miami’s 2025 class, joining four-star Sagemont Prep guard Matthew Able.

“(You’re getting) a player that can score in the post, a post player, a great rebounder and a great teammate, too,” Ahmed said. “Always try to bring positive energy in practice and in the games, too.”
