Ruling In Favor of Binghamton City Schools District In 2019 Alleged Illegal Strip Search Case
A decision has been reached in a case of alleged illegal searching of students in the Binghamton City School District five years ago. According to BCSD officials, a federal judge issued a decision in favor of the district, the Board of Education, and staff members on the more than 100 claims made against them. The search occurred at East Middle School in 2019.
Former Pa. officer found guilty of illegally using state’s police records system
WILLIAMSPORT — A former Williamsport police corporal has been found guilty of unauthorized use of the state JNET records system but not on three other charges. Lycoming County jurors deliberated about two hours Friday before returning a split verdict on charges against Cpl. Eric B. Derr, 40, of Cogan Station.
Binghamton Dollar General to Reopen After Repairs are Completed
A Dollar General store that was ordered closed by Binghamton's code enforcement department shortly after it opened is expected to resume operations within the next few weeks. The store at 68 Main Street on the city's West Side opened in early April. The building had been vacant for more than five years after a CVS Pharmacy store went out of business.
WSOC: Lackawanna Hosting Hagerstown To Start Season
SCRANTON, Pa. – Lackawanna College women's soccer will begin its 2024 campaign on Saturday, August 24th, as the Falcons host the Hagerstown CC Hawks at Schautz Stadium in Dunmore. Kickoff is set for 12:00pm ET. Admission is free to the public. The game will serve as the season-opener for both squads.

2024 PSAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll: Women’s Cross Country
The Shippensburg University women’s cross country team has been ranked third in the 2024 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The poll, determined by the league’s coaches who are not permitted to vote for their own team, placed Slippery Rock first, as the reigning champions received eight first-place votes. Bloomsburg is ranked second with six votes, while Shippensburg received the remaining three first-place votes.
Lehigh Valley attorney accused of threatening investigator
An Easton attorney was accused Thursday of threatening an attorney from the Pennsylvania Office of Disciplinary Counsel.
