Citizen asks Great Bend council to revisit golf cart ordinance
In a span of six weeks, legalizing golf carts on city streets has been discussed three times at Great Bend City Council meetings. On May 20, the council did not have the minimum of five votes needed to pass a new ordinance. The topic was revisited June 17 with more council members present, but the governing body voted 6-to-1 to deny making golf carts legal on city streets, citing lack of support, safety and extra enforcement for the police department as reasons against the idea.

40th Patriot Parade brings 100+ entries under cool clear skies
Thousands of people lined Main St. in Hutchinson on Thursday morning for the 40th Patriot Parade. Over 100 entries moved from Avenue B to 12th Ave. as Hutchinson Police officers manned closed intersections and two motorcycle officers weaved around the entries along the route.
