Rox To Wrap Up Homestand With Three Weekend Games
The St. Cloud Rox will wrap up a six-game homestand this weekend before getting some time off for the All Star break. The Rox, winners of five straight games and currently in first place in the Great Plains West Division, will host the Bismarck Larks for a 7:05 first pitch Friday night. The Rox beat the Larks 6-0 Thursday night to open the two-game series.
Evans wins international journalism award
Madison Evans, a 12-year-old freelance reporter for the Newsleaders, has been honored with an award from Youth Journalism International. Evans won a second-place “Award for Excellence” in the “Sports News” category for a story she wrote about the U.S. Women’s Open Golf Tournament in Pebble Beach, Calif. last summer. The feature story, published online, was headlined with “Women’s Golf is Changing History, and Young Fans are Noticing the Fun.”
The Vikings Have an Under-The-Radar Rookie
With training camp getting closer, the rookies are about to enter the practice facility in Eagan, Minnesota. The Vikings acquired a bunch of rookies, and of course, the attention will primarily go to first-rounders J.J. McCarthy and Dallas Turner. Kohler man and woman injured in motorcycle crash on State 67 in Fond du Lac County
OSCEOLA – A Kohler man and woman were injured Saturday afternoon when their motorcycle suffered a mechanical issue that caused them to crash into a guardrail on State 67 near Boy Scout Drive. Neither the driver nor passenger was wearing a helmet, and both were thrown from the motorcycle during the crash, Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. ...

Mankato motorcyclist hurt in Friday evening crash
MANKATO, Minn. – A motorcyclist crashed in southern Minnesota on Friday evening. The Minnesota State Patrol says Shawn Lee Ward, 39 of Mankato, was riding a 2009 Harley Davidson FXDF Cruiser north on Highway 169. The State Patrol says Ward tried to take the onramp to eastbound Highway 14 around 8:07 pm and lost control of his bike.
Big Lake Man Injured in Car Accident Friday Evening (7/19)
A Big Lake man was sent to the hospital as a result of a single-vehicle car crash on Friday evening (7/19) in Melrose Township in neighboring Stearns County. 40-year-old Daniel Joseph Holappa was eastbound on Interstate 94 when his GMC Sierra left the roadway, striking the median barriers at the intersection of MN Highway 4.
