    What happened to the shark responsible for the July 4 SPI attacks?

    SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — Texas Parks and Wildlife has provided new details on the shark that attacked multiple people on South Padre Island.

    State and local officials assisted in locating the shark and getting it back to deeper waters in a safe manner.

    South Padre Island and Cameron County Parks officials harnessed the shark in order to move it towards the sea, according to Captain Dowdy from Texas Parks and Wildlife.

    The shark was not harmed or physically injured while getting it back to sea and away from the jetties.

    Dowdy adds the shark attack is unusual and was likely due to weather changes in anticipation of Hurricane Beryl.

    He assured that additional vessels will be on stand-by on the coast incase officials need to respond to an emergency.

    Texas Parks and Wildlife believes the shark is classified as a Bull shark.

    Two people remain hospitalized following the attack.
