Augusta officials warn of potential traffic delays Sunday during Ironman race
Drivers in the Augusta area are advised to allow extra time to get to their destinations Sunday as more than 2,300 athletes compete in the Ironman 70.3 triathlon. The competition features a 1.2-mile swim in the Kennebec River, a 56-mile bike ride and a 13.1-mile run. It’s half the distance of a full Ironman triathlon.

Union Elementary School gets new roof to stop leaks
Union Elementary School is getting a new roof. On July 17, a dozen construction workers worked on the roof while another worker operated a lift, which delivered brand new material from the ground. Mid-Coast Audubon lobster bake fundraiser in Bremen Aug. 31
Mid-Coast Audubon is hosting its annual lobster bake fundraiser at Hog Island Audubon camp in Bremen on Saturday, Aug. 31. Members of the Mid-Coast Audubon Board will display their cooking talents and be available to answer bird questions. An $85 donation covers boat transportation, a meal of a lobster, potato, and corn on the cob all baked over an open fire on the beach, plus clams, baked onion, lemonade, coffee and a special dessert, and the opportunity to explore the island before or after eating.
