Tiger Sharks Swim Team Dominates Cedar Hill Cyclones in Somerset

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - On Wednesday, July 10 th , the Tiger Sharks were guests at the Cedar Hill Swim Club in Somerset to compete against the Cedar Hill Cyclones in their second match-up of the season. The Tiger Sharks competed with a total of 81 swimmers, while the Cyclones had 54 swimmers participating. The Tiger Sharks did a great job in the meet with a lot of first place finishes across all age groups and came away with another win! The final score was Tiger Sharks 306, Cyclones 220.
The Tiger Sharks’ final home meet was held on Saturday, July 13 th , against the Old Bridge YMCA Otters. Despite the early morning rain showers, the meet went on as planned. The Tiger Sharks had 80 swimmers in attendance, while the Old Bridge Otters brought 26 swimmers to the South Plainfield Community Pool. The Tiger Sharks swam very well, dominated the meet and came away with their fifth win of the season! Since the sun finally made an appearance during the meet, the coaches were all too happy to “let” the swimmers catch them and throw them into the pool at the end.
After Saturday’s meet, the coaches worked together to pick their latest group of MVPs for the week. They were Kara Czerwinski for the 8 and underage group, Daniel Mayta for the 9/10 age group, Carly Stevens for the 11/12 age group, Laina Wilson for the 13/14 age group and Riley Billian for the 15/18 age group.
With the summer swim season winding down already, the Tiger Sharks still have a number of events ahead of them. Along with the Swim-A-Thon fundraiser, that was held on Wednesday, July 17 th , the team had one more away meet against the Bridgewater YMCA on Saturday, July 20 th . The Roycefield Sprints, which is an “all 25s” fun meet, was held at the Roycefield Swim Club in Hillsborough on Sunday, July 21 st . The end of the season team party will be held at the South Plainfield Community Pool on Wednesday, July 24 th . Championships will be held at the Cedar Hill Swim Club in Somerset on Friday, July 26 th and Saturday, July 27 th . Finally, conferences will be held on Tuesday, July 30 th and Wednesday, July 31 st for those swimmers who qualify at a location TBD.
