SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - In recent weeks, South Plainfield has seen a slight uptick concerning burglaries targeting both pharmacies and residential properties. The South Plainfield Police Department is actively investigating these reported incidents.

In light of these incidents, The South Plainfield Police Department is currently collaborating with the effected businesses and residents in an effort to prevent any further occurrences. 1. Secure Entry Points: Ensure all doors and windows are locked securely, especially when leaving your home or business unattended. Consider installing deadbolt locks and sturdy window locks.
    2. Install Security Systems: Invest in a reliable alarm system that includes cameras and motion detectors. Visible security cameras can act as a deterrent to potential burglars.
    3. Illuminate Your Property: Keep exterior lights on during the night or install motion-activated lights around your home or business premises.
    4. Be Mindful of Social Media: Refrain from posting about vacations or extended absences on social media platforms, which could signal to potential burglars that your home is unoccupied.
    5. Report Suspicious Activity: Be aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious individuals or activities to the police immediately.

In the coming weeks, the South Plainfield Police Department will be offering our residents Home Security Assessments as part of the police department’s ongoing community outreach initiative. The home security assessments will be by appointment only and there will be no charge to our residents. Residents are asked to contact Sgt. Peter Magnani at pmagnani@sppolice.com for additional information.

Our goal is to foster an environment where everyone feels safe and secure, and in this endeavor, your assistance is invaluable. Together, we can strengthen our community's resilience against crime and ensure the safety and security of all residents.
