New Aerostar Plant Opening In Sioux Falls
(Sioux Falls, SD) — Big tech is set to reach new heights in Sioux Falls. South Dakota’s congressional delegation cut the ribbon for a new Aerostar facility in the city yesterday. It’s a 78-thousand square foot plant where the company will produce complex radar and stratospheric balloons. Senator Mike Rounds made an appearance at the opening, saying the technology that will not only connect people, but it will also save lives as well. The new facility is located in the Docks, southwest of foundation park, in the northwest part of Sioux Falls.
Purple Heart Given To Dakota Wesleyan Grad
(Mitchell, SD) — A Dakota Wesleyan grad is the newest recipient of the Purple Heart medal. Jerry Stravia was honored yesterday for injuries he received in Iraq nearly 20 years ago while serving with the U.S. Army. Stravia says he has been through a lot of ups and downs since that moment in 2007. He credited his wife and growth in faith for getting him through challenges of PTSD and identity. Stravia, who’s a native of Colorado, wrestled for Dakota Wesleyan when he attended school there. He now serves as a senior leader at Prairie Winds Church in Dickinson, North Dakota, and coaches girls wrestling.
After delays, the City of Madison is nearing the end of its 2022 audit
The city of Madison 2022 financial audit is nearing completion. The audit was delayed due to the implementation of new software from Tyler Technologies and staff turnover. Due to the delay, the Department of Legislative Audit may issue a notice of non-compliance. Municipalities in South Dakota are required to complete financial audits within 18 months of the end of the year. While the City of Madison did not make this deadline on June 30, 2024, all information has been provided to the auditor who is expected to complete the audit report shortly. The City of Madison says they have been actively engaged and cooperative with the Department of Legislative Audit throughout this process.

Aberdeen sledding hill gets $50,000 donation
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A project to make a sledding hill in Aberdeen safer took a big step forward this week after receiving a large donation.
