2024 Highlight Zone Preview: Whitko Wildcats

SOUTH WHITLEY, Ind. (WANE) – After a winless season in 2022, Whitko felt the sweet taste of victory in last year’s season opener.

However, Whitko ended their season with nine straight losses to finish their season with a 1-9 campaign.

Brad Sprunger is back for his second full season as head coach, and his third overall. The head coach is bringing back several returning faces on offense. Trevor Freel and Landon Smith were the top two tailbacks in Whitko’s backfield last year. Freel was the top rusher, earning 443 yards on the ground. Riley Hartman, an all-TRC selection, also returns as the Wildcat’s best wideout from last year with 472 yards and three touchdowns.

Defensively, Whitko is rolling with two-way players like Freel, Isaac Irwin and Breyden Kirkdorffer.

Whitko kicks off their season on Friday, Aug. 23 against Prairie Heights.
