Issued Zones: Kern County Valley … Inner San Luis Obispo County

Site: Southern California Weather Force has issued a High Heat Warning effective this Friday until Tuesday of this next week

Date Issued:  6/27/23 at 10:25am local

Forecast: A large ridge of high-pressure nominal for this time of year will develop of the warning area by the end of this week.  This will remain through this weekend and weaken by Tuesday.  As a result, temperatures will soar to over 110F with a real likelihood the Bakersfield areas will approach 115F over the weekend.

Temperatures will remain hot, but below warning level after Tuesday, but only for a brief moment.  Around July 9th, a larger area of high pressure is likely and we resume warning level temperatures.  Due to the loss of any chance of a seabreeze, this is the reason for the heat.

Friendly reminder to give your pets plenty of ice water, do not let them walk on hot grounds, and please don’t let them outside for more than 15 minutes at a time. Pets can get heatstroke very easily. Imagine if you had all that fur covering your body! Please be kind to your pets during dangerous heatwaves!
