Southern California Weather Force has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch and a Severe Weather Statement for the following two zones:

Zone YELLOW: Severe Thunderstorm Watch: Kern County Valleys, San Luis Obispo County, and Vandenberg Space Force Base.

Zone RED: Severe Weather Statement – Los Angeles, Orange County … Inland Empire … High Desert … Coachella Valley … Morongo Basin to Joshua Tree National Park … Cajon Pass .. and Lancaster/Palmdale …

Discussion: A low-pressure system is moving through the area right now. This low-pressure system produced thunderstorms early morning north of the forecast area. This means it has a large amount of upper divergence with it, aka lift. This will continue to slowly move through our forecast area. As it does, the first areas to be hit will be SLO County, and Bakersfield/Kern Valley zones now into the overnight.

As it moves slowly east, Friday will bring strong upper lift into LA/OC/IE/High Desert/Cajon Pass … and a north to south flow will bring severe thunderstorms to these areas. Thus, you are in a Severe Weather Statement from Southern California Weather Force.

If you are new here, welcome to the future that is Southern California Weather Force.
