A 39-year-old Prince Frederick man has been charged in the stabbing of a dog at a Prince Frederick residence, court documents filed by an animal control officer stated.

According to Calvert County Animal Control Officer Alexis King, the incident happened during the early evening hours of May 29 at a residence on Adelina Road.

The suspect is identified in court records as Mark Fields. The residents of the home identified Fields as the suspect, according to King.

In her report, King said one of the owner’s of the dog ordered Fields to leave the property prior the stabbing.

The wounded dog was taken to an animal hospital in Huntingtown. King said the dog’s injury was too severe so they had the animal “humanely euthanized.”

On May 31, district court commissioner Alexander Robinson issued a warrant for Fields’ arrest. The warrant was served that day.

Fields is charged with aggravated animal cruelty, two county of animal cruelty and concealing a dangerous weapon.

On Monday, Judge Robert B. Riddle ordered Fields be held without bond.

A district court hearing on the charges Fields is facing is scheduled for July 15.

According to documents, Fields has been ordered by the court not “intimidate or harass” the dog’s owners.
