When you’re looking for a quick and easy (not to mention YUM) appetizer or snack for kid’s parties, game days, or potlucks, check out these air fryer pizza rolls. Inside each crispy egg roll wrapper is a mini pizza filling, complete with pizza sauce, melted mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni. Doesn’t that sound delicious? Big and little kids alike will love this pizza roll recipe!

Plus, when I say it’s quick and easy, you bet I mean it. There’s no need to use frozen pizza rolls like Totino’s or Annie’s. It only takes a few minutes to assemble the crispy pizza rolls, then you just have to wait about 10 minutes for the air fryer to do its magical thing. After that, it’s time to enjoy! Serve them with extra pizza sauce and you know there’ll be no complaints.

Now, while I’ve used a simple pepperoni pizza filling for inside my homemade pizza rolls, you can use any kind of filling you like. Just stick to the basic measurements so you don’t overfill them and then do whatever you like. I’ve included many suggestions below, but maybe you’d like margarita pizza rolls or Hawaiian pizza rolls? I give you permission to let your imagination run wild 😉.

I call these air fryer pizza rolls but I’ve included directions below if you’d prefer to bake them in the oven or fry them in a skillet. Whatever cooking method you use, you can rest assured the end result is going to be the same. Delicious mini pizzas in roll form.

    Recipe Ingredients

    • 20 egg roll wraps
    • 1/3 cup pizza sauce
    • 2.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1-2 cups pepperoni chopped into small pieces (optional)
    • 2 tsp olive oil

How to Make Air Fryer Pizza Rolls

First, we need to assemble the pizza rolls. Add ~1 tsp of pizza sauce…

    ~2 tbsp of shredded mozzarella…

and ~1 tsp of as much pepperoni as you like (usually a tsp or two) to the last third of the egg roll wrap.

Now here’s a step-by-step guide on how to fold them into rolls. Place the egg roll wrap on a plate or cutting board. Position it like a diamond, with the bottom pointing toward you.

With your thumb and index finger grab the point of the diamond facing you and fold it upwards to the center of the wrap over to cover the filling.

Then take the side point and folder it over the center. Take the other side point and cover the other side.

Now start rolling from the bottom til the top point of the wrap isn’t quite touching the rest of the wrap.

This is where you put a tiny bit of water on the wrap and the top point to get them to stick together and seal the roll. Sounds complicated, but you can do it ☺.

    Air Fryer Instructions

Brush olive oil over the top of the uncooked pizza rolls.

Brush olive oil on the air fryer basket too (you can also just use cooking spray).

Place the pizza rolls in the basket with the folds down and don’t let them touch.

Air fry at 360 degrees F for 6 minutes. Flip and cook pizza rolls for an additional 2 minutes.

Here they are, your golden brown and delicious air fryer pizza rolls. I love to serve them with a dipping sauce like extra pizza sauce.

    Skillet Instructions

Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Then add olive oil or refined coconut oil to cover the bottom of the skillet. Place the pizza roll folded side down in the oil.

Cook it until that side is crispy and brown, and then flip. When finished cooking, place them on a plate lined with paper towels to get rid of some of the extra oil.

    Baking Instructions

Place a baking rack on a foil-lined baking sheet. Liberally spray the rack with olive oil.

Put the pizza rolls seam side down on the baking rack and brush olive oil over the top.

Bake at 325 F for 12-15 minutes, and flip. Bake for an additional 8-10 minutes or until the pizza rolls are done to your desired crispiness.

    Storage

    • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. You’ll want to reheat them in the air fryer quickly (2 minutes will work) before eating to get them crispy once more.
    • To freeze: place uncooked pizza rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze. Then transfer to a freezer-friendly container and store for up to 6 months. There’s no need to thaw the frozen pizza rolls before cooking.

    Notes

    • If you use meat make sure it’s cooked before being put into the air fryer.
    • Substitute the pizza sauce for tomato paste or marinara sauce. For something different, you might want to use barbecue sauce or sweet chili sauce.
    • You can also substitute the mozzarella for your favorite kind of shredded cheese, whether that’s cheddar cheese, crumbled feta, or Pepper Jack cheese.
    • Here are some other pizza roll filling suggestions. Don’t be afraid to mix and match for the combo that works for you:
      • Ham (perfect recipe to use up leftover baked ham during the holidays).
      • Bacon
      • Pineapple
      • Rotisserie chicken
      • Pulled pork
      • Olives
      • Sundried tomatoes
      • Chopped bell pepper
      • Mushroom
      • Fresh basil
    • Adapt this recipe to make dessert pizza rolls instead. Swap the pizza sauce for Nutella and the toppings for chopped nuts, berries, or the fruit of your choice. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
