Looking for an appetizer to make for the next game night that’s quick, easy, and delicious? Well, let me introduce you to my Southern-style BBQ air fryer chicken wings. These crowd-pleasing wings are coated in a delicious and flavorful seasoning, which includes hot sauce, garlic powder, seasoning salt, and creole seasoning. Cooked in the air fryer until crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside, you then toss the wings in a BBQ sauce before serving.

I highly recommend serving your wings with carrot, celery, and a side of ranch for dipping for the ultimate game-winning snack. Now, this recipe makes a scrumptious chicken wing batch that is more flavorful than spicy, with a lovely medium heat. But if you’d prefer less heat, you can totally reduce the amount of hot sauce.

Is anyone else obsessed with their air fryer? I love that it quickly makes the crispiest meals without excess oil. This air fryer recipe truly makes prepping for game day that much easier.

    Recipe Ingredients

    • 16-20 raw chicken wings
    • 1 cup hot sauce
    • 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
    • 1 tbsp Lawry’s seasoning salt
    • t tbsp creole seasoning
    • 1/2 cup Duke’s Alabama Style White BBQ Sauce

In a medium mixing bowl, add the desired number of wings and toss in 1 cup of your favorite hot sauce. Ensure wings are thoroughly coated.

Add the dry rub: ½ tablespoon of garlic powder, 1 tablespoon of Lawry’s seasoning salt, and 1 tablespoon of creole seasoning to the mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly.

Place the perfectly seasoned wings into the air fryer basket. Cook on 365 degrees for 12 minutes.

Flip wings and continue air frying them for an additional 12 minutes.

In a medium mixing bowl, toss the crispy wings in ½ cup of Duke’s Alabama White BBQ Sauce until the wings are coated evenly or you can use our Alabama White BBQ sauce recipe here.

Enjoy your White BBQ Wings with a side of carrot and celery sticks. Use ranch for dipping or your favorite sauce, whether that’s blue cheese dressing or buffalo sauce.

    Storage

Store your leftover fried chicken wings in an airtight container in the fridge for up to four days. I recommend reheating them in the air fryer.

    Recipe Notes

    • We use Franks Red Hot hot sauce for this chicken wing recipe.
    • This dish is flavorful!!! The BBQ chicken wings have a medium heat but are more flavorful than spicy.
    • For optimal flavor, you can allow your wings to soak in the hot sauce overnight or for an extended period of time before seasoning and cooking.

    Recipe FAQs

How long do you cook wings in an air fryer?

The above instructions are the optimal times to cook a crispy chicken wing batch in the air fryer – 12 minutes each side, turning in between.

Do you have to flip wings in an air fryer?

Yes, for the best and crispiest results, you should definitely turn your wings in the air fryer, halfway through the cooking time.

Can I stack wings in an air fryer?

For best results, I strongly discourage doing more than one layer of wings in an air fryer at a time. Not stacking your wings ensure they are evenly cooked and perfectly crispy.

Can I cook my air fryer chicken wings from frozen?

If you choose to cook with frozen chicken wings, I recommend cooking them in the air fryer for six minutes to thaw, before tossing the frozen wings in the wing sauce and continuing to follow the recipe instructions.

What do you serve with BBQ air fryer chicken wings?

As an appetizer, I recommend serving your cooked wings with carrot and celery sticks and ranch dipping sauce. But if you’d like to make them into a meal, serve them with rice, baked vegetables of your choice, and a side of cornbread.
