PLANTSVILLE, Conn. (WTNH) — A $24,000 project has made a Plantsville veteran’s home more accessible.

Frank Russo, who was in the Marines, has multiple sclerosis and has underwent a heart transplant. Because his MS was not service-related, he was denied VA funds for home modifications.

That’s why Homes for Veterans and Shoreline Veterans teamed up to redo his bathroom. Russo now has a wheelchair accessible tub, a vanity, a sink, a toilet and grab bars.

“The only thing I can say is, find these corp, find these special organizations, and donate, because they take care of the veterans that have these gaps,” he said. “My gap is muscular dystrophy.”
