Ellerhorst Dental Opens in Mantua
Dr. Lydia Ellerhorst was born and raised in Garrettsville. She began her education at Mount Union, completing her dental degree at The Ohio State University. Afterward, she served in the United States Army Dental Corps from 2009 to 2014. “It was five years of hard work, caring for the dental needs of soldiers in and out of deployment.” During that time, she saw eight patients a day, five days a week. While in the Army Dental Corp, Dr. Ellerhorst also completed an Advanced General Dentistry Residency program at Fort Bragg NC, graduating in 2012. She and her family returned to Garrettsville shortly afterward. For the last seven years, she’s worked at a dental clinic in Courtland.
Ox Roast Fair brings food, fun to Mantua
A good crowd of people enjoyed the 60th annual Ox Roast fair at St. Joseph Parish in Mantua over the weekend, taking in fireworks, tractor and truck pulls, music and carnival rides. Oh, and enjoying that ox roast beef. The parish festival has been running since 1964, helping to pay for new school, and these days supporting the educational and sacramental ministries of the parish. Man sentenced on gun charge from Youngstown arrest
Eugene Thompkins, 33, received the sentence from Judge Anthony D'Apolito following guilty pleas Feb. 29 to charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, a third-degree felony, and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony.
