A North Lauderdale man accused of burying a body in his backyard after a murder hopes a judge will give him the chance to bond out of jail. Simon Hand, 25, is charged with the shooting death of Demerian Hudson, 22, back in July of 2022 at Hand’s home, and disposing of the body.

Car riddled with bullets in Miami Gardens, driver killed
MIAMI - A driver was killed and a passenger was critically injured when the car they were in was riddled with bullets Sunday evening in Miami Gardens. According to police, the two men, with three toddlers in the back seat, were heading home from a party around 8:40 p.m. when their car was shot up at the intersection of 45th Avenue and NW 183rd Street. The two men were shot multiple times. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Mah'ki Cutler, died. The other man managed to get out and run to a nearby McDonald's for help. The toddlers were not hit. The injured man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Police are saying this could be gang-related. "They're highly dangerous suspects if they're shooting at any car, any persons inside the car. This could be gang affiliated and it's a targeted incident," said Miami Gardens police officer Giana Delgado. Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to contact Miami Gardens police.

Girls Varsity First Volleyball Game
The 2024-2025 school year has just begun, and the girl’s Varsity volleyball team is wasting no time getting started with their season. The girls’ volleyball season opener was on Wednesday, August 21st vs Everglades High School. The girls’ first game started promptly at 6 pm. The team seemed energetic and excited to get their first game started. The beginning of the game started strong for both teams, with the score almost tied for most of the set. Unfortunately, Coral Glades ended up losing the first set 21-25. During the second set, Everglades High School dominated with Coral Glades losing 3-25. This was an upsetting loss, but they hoped to bounce back in the third set. After that large loss, Coral Glades came out to the final set with renewed energy and focus, holding the lead for the majority of the time. However, in the end, they couldn’t pull off the victory, with Everglades winning 22-25.
