Passaic County officials announced more than $3 million in grants this week for park development and historic preservation projects. Set to be finalized by the Board of County Commissioners following a public hearing this September, the grants are due to help fund projects in 14 of the county's 16 municipalities. A new “family-oriented” restaurant is now open across from the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead. Myles on Main, downtown Riverhead’s newest eatery, opened on June 29 in the Preston House & Hotel on East Main Street. The restaurant is within the restored historic home, which was built in 1905 by local Civil War hero Henry Preston, Suffolk County’s first full-time sheriff. In 2018, the house was renovated and improved with a 20-room boutique hotel by Hyatt Place and aquarium developer Joseph Petrocelli.
