The Mount Vernon Stop & Shop at 240 East Sandford Blvd. will close alongside 31 underperforming stores, according to the Stop & Shop website. The mass closure is the result of the company’s commitment to “creating a healthy base for the future growth” of its brand, said Gordon Reid, president of Stop & Shop, in the press release. Police are searching for four suspects wanted in a shooting in Brooklyn.At least six shots were fired just before 8 p.m. Friday in East New York near the elevated subway tracks on Livonia Avenue.A 38-year-old man was shot in the back. A state court judge on Thursday ordered the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to stop the reduction of bus service in Brooklyn, the Bronx and Manhattan. At a hearing on Thursday afternoon on a lawsuit filed on behalf of bus riders by Public Advocate Jumaane D.
