    Sparta man accused of murder gets another trial date

    WRIGHT COUNTY, Mo. — A Sparta man accused of first-degree murder in the 2022 death of a Mansfield man has another trial date set for early 2025.

    Nick Owens is to stand trial March 10-14, 2025, in Phelps County on a change of venue from Wright County, according to online court records. Trial dates in 2023 and 2024 were cancelled or continued to allow time for a court-ordered mental evaluation.

    Owens, 59, is accused of shooting his nephew Zachary Owens during an attempted theft of a flatbed trailer from Zachary Owens’ property in Mansfield.
