Sparta Avenue REOPENED Near Surrey Lane and Wagon Wheel Road in Sparta

SPARTA, NJ – Sparta Police report Sparta Avenue has been reopened with assistance from JCP&L even though it was not their pole. Police said JCPL came to check their pole nearby and assisted the police by securing the damaged pole until Bright Speed arrives. Bright Speed advised they would be on site to make repairs by July 8.

The road had been closed between Surrey Lane and Wagon Wheel Road because of a downed utility pole. A car hit the pole, damaging it, police said. The crash has not interrupted power to the area as the pole is for phone and cable.

There is no estimated time for the road to reopen. Repair crews have not yet arrived on the scene as of 1:15 p.m., according to police.

Drivers are asked to follow the detours.
