Chatham Township enjoys Float Day poolside fun
CHATHAM TWP. – Two large fire trucks welcomed residents to Colony Pool, 55 School Ave. as the pool held its seasonal Float Day on Sunday, July 21. The Chatham Township Fire Department held a meet and greet for the attendees of Float Day and received massive support. Floats are normally prohibited at Colony Pool except when otherwise specified, such as for Float Day.

CHATHAM, NJ -- The special Zoom Call meeting was scheduled so that bids could go out on repairs to the crumbling walls at the Colony Pool Club, but the Chatham Township Committee pumped the brakes on the resolution Tuesday night and carried over the vote to its next regular meeting set for Aug. 13.

School board OKs 3.71% tax increase
After voters rejected a ballot question seeking approval to raise $1.7 million as a permanent addition to the Byram Township School District budget in April, the Board of Education voted earlier this month to increase the budget by $471, 528. That will raise the local tax levy by 3.71 percent.

Fire breaks out in Chester commercial building
On the morning on July 21, a fire broke out in a commercial building in the area of 39 Elkay Drive in Chester. According to the Sugar Loaf Engine Company, upon their arrival at the scene, the team found a working fire inside the building, soon upgrading the blaze to a second alarm fire. The crew was able to knock down the fire inside while mutual aid teams assisted with ventilation and suppressing “spot fires,” the fire company shared on Facebook.
