Pocono Palace, Once One of the Favorite Honeymoon Spots in Pennsylvania, To Close Its Doors in May
Pocono Palace, which has developed a reputation as a favorite hotel for honeymooners, will be permanently closing its doors after May 1. Kearny: Fiscal Q4 Earnings Snapshot
FAIRFIELD, N.J. (AP) — FAIRFIELD, N.J. (AP) — Kearny Financial Corp. (KRNY) on Thursday reported a loss of $90.1 million in its fiscal fourth quarter. The Fairfield, New Jersey-based company said it had a loss of $1.45 per share. Earnings, adjusted for asset impairment costs and restructuring costs, were 9 cents per share.
State Monitor Releases Scathing Report on East Ramapo School District
A monitor appointed by New York State to keep tabs on the East Ramapo Central School District reported last week that the school board gave preferential treatment to Orthodox students that didn’t attend the public schools that were then inadequately funded. That’s according to several published reports. The monitor, Hank Greenberg, called the board’s fiscal management “abysmal” and noted the district is “on the precipice of fiscal disaster.” Greenberg recommended appointing a fiscal monitor who would be empowered to overrule the school board and superintendent if necessary while also providing additional funds to the district. Greenberg’s report apparently fell short, however, of calling for a state takeover of the district.

Montclair public schools appointed Sean Long to fill a temporary seat on the school board until January 2025.
