Early voting is underway for Spartanburg School District Seven’s bond referendum.

The early voting period started on Aug. 5 and will end on Friday, Aug. 16.

Those interested in voting early can do so at the Spartanburg County Voter Registration and Elections Office (366 N. Church St.) in Conference Room 6 from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The proposed $47 million referendum would fund the creation of a new Jesse Boyd Elementary School on the old McCracken Middle School site and an 11,364-square-foot classroom addition to Mary H. Wright Elementary.

The total estimated cost for the projects is $59,572,823, of which the district would provide $12,572,833 from its debt service, food service, and general funds. The referendum, if passed, would cover the remaining cost.

The election for the referendum will take place from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Aug. 20.

The district is holding three more informational meetings on the referendum before the election. Voters can attend the following sessions to hear a presentation on the referendum and the projects it's funding and ask questions:

    • Aug. 13 at noon or 6 p.m. at Mount Moriah Baptist Church (445 S. Church St.)
    • Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. in the District 7 Fine Arts Center at Spartanburg High School (2250 E. Main St.)
