According to the National Weather Service at Greenville-Spartanburg, a Heat Advisory is in effect for the Upstate from noon to 8 p.m. today, June 30.
Heat values up to 106 are expected for portions of northeast Georgia, the western Piedmont of North Carolina, and the Upstate, according to NWS.
According to NWS, a few strong to severe thunderstorms are also expected across the region this afternoon and evening.

Heat precautions
- Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in minutes.
- Drink plenty of fluids.
- Stay in an air-conditioned room.
- Stay out of the sun.
- Check up on relatives and neighbors.
