JCHS alumni stones are put in place
On Friday, members of the Junction City High School Alumni Association placed alumni stones in front of Junction City High School. In the future, the stones will feature aluminum plaques, which will be engraved and installed by current students, of prominent alumni and those who were memorialized at the former high school.

SMSD News: Summer 2024 bond construction update
Shawnee Mission School District (SMSD) has been busy with construction activity this summer, thanks to the community-approved bond referendum from January 2021. The bond has funded the rebuild of five elementary schools, with the final two projects currently underway. Rushton Elementary is slated to open in August 2024. Following that, Tomahawk Elementary will welcome students in the fall of 2025. These new buildings are designed to offer state-of-the-art educational spaces that align with the district’s strategic goal to be ranked among the finest school districts in the nation, employing exceptional educators where all learners achieve their full potential.

Clay Center Elks 1st Annual Hardship Tour to Collect Funds for Hammond Family
The Clay Center Elks’ Lodge No. 2253 is holding their first annual Bikes, Blues, and BBQ Hardship Tour. The event will take place at the Clay Center Elks’ Lodge on July 26 from 4-10 p.m. The Hardship Tour’s main event will be a Bike Show with the crowd favorite winning a $100 cash prize. KCAC tournaments no longer coming to Great Bend
The City of Great Bend and the Great Bend Recreation Commission announce that the KCAC Softball and Baseball Championship will no longer be held in Great Bend.
