Downtown construction won't stand in the way of this fall festival in Hornell

A Hornell fall event that's grown in popularity but faced the chopping block in 2024 will take place after all.

The Maple City Fall Festival is returning for a fifth year on Saturday, Oct. 12. in downtown Hornell.

The festival is noon to 6 p.m. and features live music, free children's activities and dozens of food and craft vendors.

The highly-anticipated community get-together was an uncertainty this fall due to ongoing downtown construction, of the Streetscapes, Alleyways, Wayfinding and Public Art projec t in Hornell.

But according to Hornell Partners for Growth, the festival is back in business thanks to progress on the $2.9 million streetscape project, part of Hornell’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative.

"Hornell Partners for Growth is dedicated to enhancing the economic and social vitality of the Hornell area," HPG Executive Director Valorie Whitehill said a news release.

"Through events like the Maple City Fall Festival, we strive to bring the community together and celebrate all that makes Hornell a great place to live and work."

The Maple City Fall Festival has seen an increase in participation in successive years, with the 2023 festival signing on more than 80 craft and food vendors and hosting family-friendly activities like train rides, bounce houses and speed sketchers.

HPG said the 2024's fifth annual edition "promises to be bigger and better than ever, with something for everyone in the family to enjoy."

Sponsorships available, volunteers welcome for Maple City Fall Festival

HPG said volunteers are needed and sponsorships are available at various levels, including $500 "Gold Music" sponsor, $300 "Silver" sponsor and $100 "Bronze" sponsor.

Sponsors will be acknowledged on HPG's social media platforms and at the event.
