Just a quick note on 1st Quarter 2024 Retail Sales in Kewanee. After a record-setting 2023, the 1st quarter of 2024 saw a healthy 4.6% increase over the same period in 2023. This increase is greater than the inflation rate, which shows there was an actual, real increase in overall sales. First quarter sales were $62.4 million. Showing increases were the categories of general merchandise, food, apparel, drug stores, and small retail. 2023 was a record year with more than $260 million in sales and the 6th consecutive year of increases over the previous year. In Kewanee, the retail sector is off to a robust start in 2024, continuing its upward trajectory with a 4.6% increase in first-quarter sales compared to the same period last year. Sales reached $62.4 million, surpassing inflation and indicating genuine growth. The sustained expansion suggests a vibrant economic environment in Kewanee’s retail landscape.
No arrests in late Sunday night shooting in Peoria
