Man pleads guilty to involvement in murder of Morey Pelton
RIRIE — A 61-year-old man has pleaded guilty to being involved in the murder of a father of two. Gerald Hamlin was indicted on Feb. 8 on one count of felony aiding and abetting first-degree murder, felony accessory willfully withholding knowledge of a felony from a peace officer, and felony destruction, alteration, or concealment of evidence in connection to the death of Morey Pelton.

Brilliant minds: Pocatello students take first in their category in solar car challenge
POCATELLO — After months of work constructing their own solar vehicle, a group of Pocatello students took first place in a test of their car’s durability. Chris Ulland, 18, Logan Friesen, 18, and Krystof Oresky, 17, were the three members of Russet American Racing who attended the 2024 Solar Car Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, and won first place in the classic division. This was the first year that students from Pocatello participated. They were the only team from Idaho to compete this year, and they were the second team ever to qualify with only three attending members.

The 71-year-old Idaho Falls woman is the daughter of the Rexburg theater’s original owner. On July 18, the business announced on its Facebook page its last day of operation would be August 24. Kuhn Properties recently bought the land and is awaiting the city’s approval for a 410-unit housing development on the site to be completed over the next three years.

Woman charged with arson of Sandpoint Army Surplus store in court this week
SANDPOINT, Idaho — A preliminary hearing is being held Wednesday for a woman charged with the arson fire that destroyed the Army Surplus store July 4. Jennifer Suzanne Meyer, 50, was charged earlier this month with setting the fire, after police said multiple surveillance videos from businesses near the Army Surplus building showed the woman in the vicinity and acting suspiciously.
